Lost and Finding Joy

We actually were able to sell that business and we moved, but, it only took a few short months after moving, and my husband started doing this work again. It was great for him, but I was like, “Oh no. Here we go again.”

On one particular day I was in this women’s class at church and my husband was waiting for me in the foyer. This was a defining moment for me because when I walked out my husband said, “Hey, this is such-and-such (don’t want to mention his name), and he’s going to be working with us.” I paused. On the one hand I was so thankful that my husband was on his path, and he was also helping this gentleman by creating work for him; but I knew at that moment what that meant for me. That meant that we’re back in the business and here I am, I’m going to be giving all my time to this. Why this mattered to me was because I wasn’t able to do the things that was pulling me to do. I wanted to serve and help others. I wanted to spend time with my children. I wanted to spend quality time with my family, and I felt like for so many years, I was unable to do that because of this particular job. I knew how much it took to make it work. My husband would do one side of the business, and I would do the other, and they were both very demanding.

I decided on that day, walking out of that meeting, knowing that we were going back into the business; that I was going to search. I was going to search for what it is that I wanted to do and also work in the business.

I decided to go back to college to study psychology. That was the only place I knew to start. I had studied self-development for years, but I wanted to expand my education and I felt like college was a good start. I thought, “This could take years,” but I was willing to do it. I thought may be I could serve in a community capacity, may be I could do some type of counselling. I didn’t know exactly what it would look like, I just knew my heart was pulling me to do it.

About 6-12 months later I discovered a class online. That class introduced me to Mary Morrissey and the Life Mastery Institute. A little after that I discovered what life coaching was. Once I learned what that was, I was offered the opportunity to become certified as a DreamBuilder Coach and Life Mastery Consultant. It changed my life. It taught me beginning to end what I needed, beginning to end how to present, beginning to end how to transform lives.

I began studying this program in January, 2018 and by August, 2018, we sold the business again. This proven, reliable, repeatable system not only changed my life, it also helped change my husband’s life when he realized our business did take a lot of his time, and his passion was teaching others the HVAC trade.

Fast forward 4 years, and we are still doing what we love, serving others through coaching and teaching, AND we were able to use this repeatable system to fulfill our audacious dream of operating a kid business and corn maze. We created Rolling Oaks Farms in the fall of 2022. This was a dream in the works for 10-15 years. We LOVE it!!! We are living lives that we absolutely love living. We spend much more quality time with our children and we now even get to spend several days a week with our precious grandchildren.
