Lost and Finding Joy

I check out mentally when I’m doing tasks I don’t enjoy. On the other hand, I can work anybody under the table when I’m doing work I enjoy. For example, I am out in my husband’s truck, right now, writing this blog. That’s because I love writing. In a few minutes, he’s going to need me to help him with his work, which I don’t enjoy (although I do love helping him). It’s not because I don’t enjoy physical work. I can work on our farm from sun up until sun down, and love every minute of it. What I’ve discovered about myself is that I enjoy creative work — in all of its forms.

Have you discovered what you enjoy? What type of work do you do that makes you come alive when you’re doing it? Whatever that is…that’s life wanting to express itself through you. It could be creative, physical, mental, or all of it. Whatever it is, when you discover it, life gets easier, and you feel more joy doing it.

If you don’t know yet, you can move into the discovery phase. “Ask and ye shall receive.” Be still and take a moment to ask yourself the question, “What do I enjoy doing that makes me come alive when I’m doing it?” Stay in the spirit of that question, and eventually your answer will come.

They say, “Do what you love and you won’t work a day in your life.” I can honestly say that’s true, at least it won’t feel like work. ~~ May you discover your passion and live in and from the full empowerment of yourself!
