What the Heck Is a Life Coach?

Our brains are really smart, but they seem really dumb. They are artifacts of the past. If we listen to our minds, they become our leader. They are horrible leaders. Why? Have you ever wanted to do something that you tell yourself you’re going to do, but then find yourself in the same old behaviors? For example: You told yourself you’d do that report every day for the past 90 days, but your brain tells you to do it tomorrow. Maybe you’ve been wanting to lose weight, but that cake is sitting right there — and your mind seems to work against you and tells you something like, “Go ahead and eat it, you can start your diet after this piece.” Maybe you finally lose the weight, only to lose the battle of your mind again, and you gain it all back. Our brains fight us when we want to change. It wants us to stay status quo — to live in the familiar; even if the familiar isn’t something we’d prefer. If we want to create new, more life giving patterns, we’ve got to become the master of our minds. The good news is our minds are amazing students. Once it’s reprogrammed, it will work with you to create the results you want. It’s difficult (almost impossible) to do it alone, because we simply fall back into old patterns.

What are invisible boundaries? That’s all the stuff we are carrying around with us like guilt, resentment, unforgiveness, fear, etc. It’s also old patterns in our brains — limited ways of believing. A lot of times we believe we can’t do something, when we actually can. My teachers and mentors helped me to see that I can do more than I thought I could. My life coaches gave me the tools, accountability, and personal support I needed to do it.

God said to ask, seek, and knock. When we do that, the right people come into our lives to show us the way. Robert Kiyosaki was one of my first teachers/mentors. He said, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” I can look back over my journey and see clearly when each teacher, mentor, and coach appeared.

I’ve studied self-development for more than 30 years. It wasn’t until I discovered a life coach, that I began creating more expansive results. I had limiting patterns that I didn’t even realize I had. I thought I was trapped in a business I didn’t enjoy anymore. Turns out, that was just an invisible boundary. I thought I had to choose money or freedom. Turns out I could have money and freedom.

All teachers, mentors, and life coaches had their own teachers appear when they were ready; and they turned around and became teachers, mentors, and life coaches themselves.

A life coach takes it a step further beyond teaching and mentoring. We give the tools, motivation, and personal support needed to repattern some of the invisible boundaries your mind has been carrying up until now. Allow your mind to become the student as you become the master of your mind, and begin repatterning limiting ideas into more empowering, life-giving ideas.

If you’re ready, find a life coach that can help you navigate the gap between where you are and where you’d love to be. I’d be honored to see if we are a good fit to work together.
