My dad had a heart attack this morning. Just 5 days ago we were all together singing karaoke, fixing air conditioners, working on computers, and cutting trees.
He and my mom just endured an ice storm that knocked their power out for 3 weeks. They were recovering. They were fixing things and cleaning up the mess the broken limbs and fallen trees had caused.
They had a lightening storm a few weeks after, which knocked out some of their lights, computer stuff, and who knows what else.
Just 5 days ago, he seemed fine. He looked good. We spent the weekend with them to help with an AC unit and other minor repairs.
I was relieved the harsh winter was over, so Dad could do what he loves — working outside in his yard and flower beds. His dogwoods are starting to bloom. He loves them so much.
He woke up at 3:00am and laid in bed with my mom. He was in pain. She asked him if he needed to go to the emergency room. He always says, “No,” to doctors and hospitals. This time he said, “Yes.”
They told him he had a heart attack and they sent him to another hospital that was equipped to handle such emergencies.
He had 100% blockage, so they gave him a stint.
He seemed like he was recovering.
They gave him blood pressure medicine after giving numerous other medications- morphine, fentanyl, and others. His blood pressure dropped fast. He stopped responding.
He’s not comfortable. He’s tried getting up multiple times. They had to strap him down.
He’s sleeping now.
God please. Please make him better. We need him. We aren’t ready to let him go. God please. My mom needs him. My sister needs him. My kids need him. I need him. We all need him.
God, give us strength and faith as he is recovering. Please give our dad comfort. Please surround him with your angels.
Please comfort our mom as she is anxiously awaiting her husband of more than 60 years to recover. Please give her strength and surround her with your angels.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen
